Dr. Christian Veillette appointed Division Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at University Health Network

Congratulations to Dr. Christian Veillette who has been appointed as the Division Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at University Health Network effective July 1st, 2019.

Dr. Veillette completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Calgary. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at University of Toronto and earned his Masters of Science degree in the Surgeon Scientist Program. He is a graduate of the Upper Extremity Reconstruction and Trauma Fellowship at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and the Mayo Shoulder and Elbow Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. His clinical focus is in minimally invasive shoulder and elbow arthroscopic surgery and complex shoulder and elbow reconstruction. He joined the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at Toronto Western Hospital in 2007.

Dr. Veillette is a clinician investigator at the Krembil Research Institute and Affiliated Faculty at the Techna Institute. His academic interests are focused in health informatics, predictive analytics and data-driven integrated osteoarthritis care. He is the Director of the Electronic Data Capture Program within the Techna Institute at UHN. His team developed the DADOS (DAta Driven Outcome System) platform that enables scientists to more efficiently conduct clinical research and clinicians to more cost-effectively obtain patient outcomes. At the University of Toronto, he is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and the Lead for the Upper Extremity Competency-Based Curriculum and University of Toronto Upper Extremity Program.
