Dr. Jas Chahal Announced as the Division Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at Women’s College Hospital!

Dr. Chahal joined Women’s College hospital as staff after a UTOSM fellowship. He is an active leader in our teaching and research programs. We are proud to see him advance to this position to continue to provide leadership and excellence in clinical care, education and research on a more expansive platform. Congratulations Dr. Chahal!

These prestigious awards are given out to scholars across the country in various disciplines and are intended to support high quality doctoral thesis research. Graeme’s work is in the area of femoroacetabular impingement and is under the supervision of Jas Chahal. Congratulations Dr. Hoit!

UTOSM Authors Win Two 2020 Arthroscopy Journal Awards!!

Congratulations to Dr. James Higgins and co-authors who won the 2020 Arthroscopy Best Resident/Fellow Article Award for their article “Conventional Follow-up Versus Mobile Application Home Monitoring for Postoperative Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Patients: A Randomized Controlled Trial.”

An additional congratulations to Dr. Tim Dwyer and co-authors who won the 2020 Arthroscopy Journal Award for Systematic Review/Meta-analysis Research Excellence for their article “Operative Versus Nonoperative Treatment of Femoroacetabular Impingement Syndrome: A Meta-analysis of Short-term Outcomes.”

Dr. Nauth awarded the B. Langer Surgeon Scientist Award

The B. Langer Surgeon Scientist Award is given to an outstanding graduate from the Department of Surgery, who shows the greatest promise for a career in academic surgery.

Aaron Nauth

Aaron Nauth, an orthopaedic surgeon at St. Michael’s Hospital is this year’s recipient of the award. Aaron received his medical degree at Queen’s University, completed his residency training in Toronto, and then pursued two fellowships: one at the University of British Columbia in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy and the other at the University of Toronto in Trauma and Upper Extremity. His research focuses on the basic science of trauma and fracture healing in conjunction with stem cell therapy. Since 2014, Aaron has captured 12 grants totalling well over $750,000 in research funding; he has been the PI or Co-Investigator on 10 of those grants.

Dr. Hoit Awarded CIHR Canadian Graduate Scholarship!

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research has awarded Dr. Graeme Hoit with the Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarship-Master’s (CGS M) in support of his Master’s research.  Congratulations Dr. Hoit!
